Vision

Are you often guilty of sneaking tragic backstories into characters that were designed to be lighthearted and fun? Do you measure the quality of the larps you attend by whether the game made you cry or not? Do you feel the allure of playing the villain but are afraid the experience will be too isolating? Is the type 2 fun the best kind of fun? If one of several answers to these questions were affirmative, then oh boy, is this the larp for you.

On Pins and Needles is a Sartre-inspired larp about facing the consequences for past actions. The larp is set in the modern times, where 18 morally corrupt characters have died and found themselves entering hellish afterlife. However, instead of the traditional flames and pitchforks, the scene is set in the surreal atmosphere of a bowling alley, where time is suspended, and each character adopts a role of both a tormenter as well as a victim.

The game will guide the characters through self-deception and the false hope of Limbo, eventually leading them to the realization of damnation and the acceptance that follows. The game will explore some of the most deprived depths of human morale, for which the characters will hold each other accountable, while their actions at last get stripped of all consequences.

Team

This larp is run by Poltergeist LARP, a registered organisation originating in Germany.

We want to be very open here: We are a bunch of leftist queer trash and allies. We represent feminist ideals, we care about the climate and we fight against animal cruelty. We believe in science.

Our design represents these ideas and it does so on purpose. If idealistically driven game design is not for you, then neither are our larps :)

Our events are driven by stories and the beauty that lies within telling them.

We take an interest in personal ideas, in you as a human being and the character you bring to life.

Together, we hope, we can safely enter the magic circle that is larp and explore new facets of storytelling with each other.

To give you a feeling of who we are,

we all answered three life-defining things for you.

a) Biggest guilty pleasure?

b) Personal hell?

c) My favorite annoying song
